Privacy Policy

Before you publish: this is a working template built for a mahjong scoring app with optional ads and subscriptions. Have a lawyer confirm it matches what the app actually collects, and update it if you add accounts, cloud sync, or new SDKs — Apple and Google both check that this page matches your app's real data usage.

13 Orphans ("we," "us," "the app") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Gameplay & app data: scoring history, saved settings, and felt theme preferences, stored on your device.
Purchase data: in-app purchases and subscriptions (such as Dragon Membership) are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of a purchase, not your payment details.
Device & usage data: general information like device type, OS version, and crash logs, used to keep the app stable.
Advertising identifiers: if you choose to watch a rewarded ad, our ad partner may use a device advertising ID to serve and measure that ad. You can limit this in your device's privacy settings.

We do not require an account to use the core calculator, and we do not collect your name, contact list, or precise location.

Event and registration page usage analytics

When you visit an event or registration page, we may collect first-party usage analytics such as page or form views, registration-link clicks, interaction and form-start events, submission events, and server-side timestamps. We may also record traffic information such as a referrer host, source, campaign, placement, or tracking-link attribution.

Where trusted hosting proxy information is available, this may include an approximate country, region, or city. We may derive a broad device type, operating-system family, and browser family; browser identification is best effort and may not always be exact. We do not collect GPS or precise street location, use browser fingerprinting, or retain raw IP addresses as analytics records.

Analytics uses random opaque visitor and session identifiers stored in first-party browser localStorage, not cookies. These identifiers are pseudonymous rather than anonymous: if you submit a registration, the related registration may be attributed to the visit. We use this information to understand event and form performance and improve the registration experience.

How we use information

To run and improve the app's scoring, guide, and table features.
To process purchases and manage subscription entitlements through the app stores.
To display and measure optional rewarded ads.
To diagnose crashes and fix bugs.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third parties to run the app:

Apple App Store / Google Play Billing — handles purchases and subscriptions.
[Analytics provider — e.g. none / Firebase / Amplitude] — aggregated usage statistics.
[Ad network — e.g. Google AdMob] — serves optional rewarded ads.

Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we'll link here once finalized.

Children's privacy

13 Orphans is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Data retention & security

Gameplay data lives primarily on your device. Where we do process data (such as purchase confirmations), we keep it only as long as needed for the purpose described above, and use reasonable safeguards to protect it.

For event and registration analytics, the visitor identifier remains in your browser until you clear its site data. A new session identifier is created after 30 minutes of inactivity. Detailed server-side visit, event, and registration-attribution records are retained for up to 12 months under the current policy. An Owner-only maintenance operation rolls older detailed records into daily aggregate statistics before deleting the detailed records; no automatic scheduler currently runs that operation. Daily aggregate statistics are retained longer for historical reporting. Tracking-link definitions and their configuration remain until explicitly deleted; deactivation stops new attribution but does not erase the definition or historical aggregate results. The recent-activity view shows only the last 30 days and is not a separate data store.

Your choices

Limit ad tracking through your device's OS-level privacy settings.
Manage or cancel subscriptions directly through your App Store or Google Play account.
Request deletion of any data we hold about you by contacting us below.

International users

If you're in the EU/UK, California, or another region with its own privacy law, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or deletion requests under GDPR or CCPA). Contact us and we'll respond in line with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our data practices change and update the date above. Material changes will be flagged in the app.
