The scoring foundation

How MCR Mahjong scoring works

Mahjong Competition Rules scoring adds recognized patterns together as fan. A legal winning hand must meet the configured minimum, and compatible patterns can combine while exclusions and overrides keep the total from double-counting the same feature.

Patterns make the total

The calculator reviews the implemented MCR patterns selected or detected for the hand, then shows the pattern subtotal and the final fan total. Flowers can contribute to the total and, when enabled for the table, to the minimum.

Context changes the movement

Self-draw and discard wins use different point movement. Prevailing wind, seat wind, and supported last-tile or replacement-tile circumstances add the table context needed for a meaningful result.

The official minimum is eight points

The official MCR flow requires at least 8 points to qualify as a normal win. The result shows when a complete hand is below that minimum instead of presenting it as a qualifying score.

Keep the rulebook nearby

MCR pattern interactions can depend on the exact hand and rules in use. The calculator presents its recognized patterns and warnings so you can review the result at the table.
